Gerald M. Burnett, Sr. is a native of Dallas, TX. He is the youngest of 5 children; the son of Harold and Willie Eva Burnett. Gerald is proud to serve as the Choir Director at Kennemer Middle School in Duncanville, TX (which is a suburb of Dallas). This is his 13th year to teach in the Duncanville Independent School District. He had the privilege of attending and graduating from the Arts Magnet High School in Dallas where he studied music. He has an Associate’s degree in Music from Southwestern Christian College (Terrell, TX) and a Bachelor’s Degree in Vocal Music from Oklahoma Christian University (Oklahoma City). He was selected as campus Teacher of the Year for Kennemer Middle School in the 2014-2015 school year.
Under Mr. Burnett's direction, the school choir has continuously recieved 1's (Superior Ratings) in competition. Gerald is a member of TMEA (Texas Music Educators Association). He also serves as the music minister at the Mountain View church of Christ in Dallas, TX. He has also sung professionally with the Dallas Opera and he owns and operates his own home music studio business, “GNOTE Studio and Productions”. He has recorded and produced several outstanding vocal artists. Gerald has several acappella christian albums out that he has recorded and produced of his own with music that he has written and arranged. In his spare time, he also does private voice and piano lessons.
Most importantly, Gerald is married to his best friend, Frederica Smith-Burnett. He has an amazing 8 year old step-son, (Aiden) and together they have a 10 month old son, (Gerald II).
